Job Description
John Anderson Construction is seeking a meticulous and experienced Project Controls Specialist to join our team. As a Project Controls Specialist, you will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects by implementing robust controls, monitoring project performance, and providing timely and accurate project information. Your expertise in Procore, Sage Timberline, and Primavera P6 Scheduling will be critical in managing and optimizing project schedules, budgets, and resources. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in project controls within the construction or engineering industry, coupled with exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
Project Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with project scope, objectives, and timelines.
- Integrate schedule data from various sources to create comprehensive project schedules.
- Monitor and update project schedules regularly to reflect actual progress, changes, and forecasts.
Cost Control and Management:
- Utilize Sage Timberline to establish and maintain project budgets, track expenditures, and analyze cost variances.
- Implement cost control measures to ensure project expenditures align with approved budgets.
- Prepare and distribute cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to project stakeholders.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with project teams.
- Monitor and report on risk status, including potential impacts on project schedule and budget.
- Maintain risk registers and ensure risk management practices are integrated into project planning.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Use Procore to track project progress, document control, and collaboration.
- Generate and present project performance reports, including schedule, cost, and resource utilization metrics.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with project teams to identify areas for improvement and corrective actions.
Change Management:
- Manage and document project changes, including scope, schedule, and budget adjustments.
- Ensure that change management processes are followed, and changes are approved and communicated to all stakeholders.
- Analyze the impact of changes on project performance and make recommendations for adjustments.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align project controls with project objectives.
- Facilitate effective communication between project teams and external stakeholders regarding project status, risks, and performance.
- Support project teams in resolving project control issues and implementing best practices.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in project controls within the construction or engineering industry.
- Proficiency in Procore, Sage Timberline, and Primavera P6 Scheduling.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree or certification in project management or construction management (e.g., PMP, CCP).
- Experience with additional project management software and tools.
- Knowledge of construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Previous experience in large-scale capital projects, infrastructure services, or alternative energy initiatives.
