Job Summary
This individual will complement our existing team and help raise the bar for manufacturing excellence. We are striving to implement the best methods, systems, and practices to equal or surpass competing suppliers in this segment of industry.
We must develop and implement scientific methods of measuring product quality and documenting performance using the latest and best continuous improvement tactics and strategies.
The Quality Control Supervisor will be responsible for identifying methods and systems to control quality from receipt of incoming materials through the manufacturing phase including channeling feedback from customer concerns back to the process in a continuous loop.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the product is manufactured in accordance with industry regulations and specifications.
- Implementation of methods and systems as needed to control product quality.
- Implement tracking of quality statistics
- Train quality technicians in the practices of measurement conventions
- Learn and apply the pertinent industry standards that enable full compliance.
- Some Supplier quality assurance is required.
- Develops product/process performance metrics.
- Performs statistical analysis used in problem solving and quality improvement using Six Sigma tactics.
- Investigates customer complaints, develops corrective action plans, and verifies effectiveness.
- Development of Control Plans when applicable
- Assist with performing capability studies, data analysis, part testing and dimensional layouts and report findings as needed.
- Participate in managing incoming material quality testing. Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions, and preventative actions.
- Assist with creating and maintaining company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
Qualifications
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with diverse groups of internal and external customers
- Ability to prepare and present technical information.
- Thorough technical knowledge and background of quality and manufacturing processes including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), layout and gauging; machining methods and assembly processes as well as statistical process control (SPC) and statistical techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of control plans and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Well-developed analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
- Well-developed time management, prioritization, organizational and planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to work individually or in a team environment.
- At least 2 years of related experience in manufacturing, process engineering, supply chain or quality field
- Hands-on metrology experience and be familiar with practical application of common gauges and fixtures.
- Fundamental quality experience in manufacturing, assembly, or machining type operations
- Lean Principles/Experience. Experience in 8D, 5 whys, fishbone, pareto and other quality assurance tools and techniques
- Experience in Quality System knowledge (functional & Adherence)
- Experience with Continuous Improvement
Working Conditions
This position operates in a manufacturing facility where employees are exposed to various environmental factors, including but not limited to noise, dust, odors, and temperature fluctuations. The role may require standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required in designated areas.
