- Complete 12 hours of training annually
- Provide the office with required paperwork (i.e. PPD Test Results, proof of auto insurance, etc.)
- Clock in and out of their shifts using the Telephony System
- Submit their ADL reports and Time Sheets to the office accurately and on time
- Treat their clients and co-workers with respect and dignity
- Read, understand and comply with our employee policies
- Immediately report incidents or complaints
- Follow the provided Plan of Care
- Return calls to the office in a timely manner
Caregiver Job Description
Primary Responsibilities of this position may include:
- Grooming – Hair Care, Shaving, Oral Care, and Skin Care
- Bathing - Assist with the shower, tub bath, bed bath
- Dressing - Assist client with dressing/undressing
- Toileting - Assist client to the bathroom, bedside commode, urinal, bedpan or diapers
- Ambulation - Assist client with walkers, canes, gait belt, or crutches
- Transferring - Assist client to/from bed, wheelchair, low chair, use of lift, turning client in bed
- Medications - Provide client with medication reminders
- Cleaning - light cleaning of client’s kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, laundry, changing sheets, and other light housework for the clients comfort & safety
- Meals - Shop for and cooking of food for client, following special diets, serving and/or feeding meals
- Emotional Support - Provide companionship, teaching, having conversations, playing cards/games, etc.
- Transportation - Errands, Medical appointments
- Communication - Coordinating patient care with key members of the In-Home Care, Inc. Reporting changes in the patient’s condition to family, agency, and medical team. Maintain records of patient care.

Special Requirements
All employees are required to provide documentation of legal authority to work in the US, have sympathy for and interest in caring for the elderly and sick at home. Caregivers are required to have valid 2-Step PPD results or a Quantiferon Gold PPD blood test, or chest x-ray, and are required by state law to be re-tested annually (or every 5 years for a blood test or chest x-ray). Caregivers who drive and are requested to drive our clients must provide In-Home Care, Inc. with a valid driver’s license, proof of current insurance, current registration, and provide a copy of a State Department of Motor Vehicles driving record. Additionally, caregivers must pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.
Working Conditions
Caregivers work in the client’s homes. They must be able to bend down, lift and do other things associated with cleaning, cooking and caregiving. The must be able to handle patient suffering that might be due to physical or emotional problems at home. Since most clients cannot be left alone, caregivers will be required to take “on duty meal breaks” and not leave the client’s home during the break.
Training
Formal training is not required to work as a non-medical in-home caregiver in Pennsylvania. In-Home Care, Inc. offers formal training throughout the year, but we feel that completing 120 hours of specialized training to obtain a Home Health Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant certificate will help you excel as a caregiver with us. This training will cover basic nutrition, meal planning and preparation, home cleaning tasks, as well as techniques for safely bathing, turning and transferring the client.
