Regional EHS Manager
The regional EHS Manager acts as the primary point of contact for all ISO 14001/9000, Responsible Care initiatives and Environmental Management Systems for North American Plants at Orion Engineered Carbons. He/she develops systems and standards that are required for ISO, Responsible Care certification, Environmental Permits, and membership in the ACC.
Essential Duties:
- Manage the process that will lead to ISO 14001 certification.
- Work with the US-based manufacturing sites and support functions to achieve ISO certification according based on an established timetable.
- Develop the EHSS and PS/PT procedures and standards that are required for ACC membership and ISO certification.
- Conduct internal audits to determine the current state of environmental and quality systems; identify gaps and remedial actions.
- Act as liaison and primary point of contact with third-party auditors on ISO and Responsible Care ® certifications.
- Support regional managers with respect to sustainability reporting, systems, and initiatives.
- Works with US plant EHS managers and manages US facilities reporting and permitting requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and positive working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering. A focus in chemical or mechanical engineering is strongly preferred; other engineering disciplines will be considered.
- At least five years of experience managing ISO14001/9001 certification initiatives is required.
- At least three years of operations or process safety experience in refining or specialty chemicals manufacturing is highly desired.
- A thorough understanding of the Responsible Care ® voluntary improvement initiative is essential.
- Active participation in the ACC, either as a staff member or volunteer would be an advantage.
- Six Sigma certification and experience managing Six Sigma projects are strong pluses. Must be familiar with Title V permitting, NPDES permitting, GHG reporting requirements, and other US environmental requirements.
- Experience with MACT Standards as they relate to carbon black would be a strong plus.
