Location/Schedule:
We are seeking personnel to work as Traffic Managers/Flaggers in the following locations at the following times:
· Queens, Midtown Manhattan, Washington Heights, the Bronx, and Rosedale, NY.
· (6am x 9am) and (4pm x 7pm), give or take 30 to 60 minutes.
Job Description:
As a Traffic Manager/Flagger, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of traffic in and around the school zones of Success Academy Charter Schools in NYC. Working under the direction of SSPTMS, Inc. and in compliance with DOT regulations, you will assist pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles in navigating the school zones.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
· Assisting Pedestrians: ensure the safe ingress and egress of students, staff, and other pedestrians to and from the school buildings.
· Managing Traffic Flow: direct vehicles to ensure smooth and efficient traffic flow around the school zones during high-volume periods.
· Coordination and Communication: work in strategic positions determined through discussions between SSPTMS, Inc. and Success Academy Charter Schools to enhance traffic flow and safety.
· Safety Compliance: adhere to all DOT regulations and proper protocols to maintain a safe environment for all traffic participants.
Key Responsibilities:
· Serve as a crossing guard and traffic manager at designated post locations.
· Assist vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists in navigating the school zones safely.
· Collaborate with the Senior Supervisor and follow directions to implement traffic management strategies.
· Communicate effectively with pedestrians and drivers to ensure clear understanding of traffic rules and directions.
· Monitor traffic conditions and report any issues or concerns to the Senior Supervisor for prompt resolution.
· Maintain a high level of awareness and readiness to respond to any emergencies or unexpected situations.
· Participate in training sessions to stay updated on traffic management protocols and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Prior experience in traffic management or a similar role is preferred. (1yr+)
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
· Knowledge of DOT regulations and proper traffic management protocols.
· Physical ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
Licenses and Certifications:
· Flagger Certification (4hr)
· OSHA-30 and SST are preferred but not required.
· First Aid/CPR/AED Certification – required within 90 days of employment.
Reports To: Senior Supervision, Management
Pay Range: $18 - $21 per hour.
