Job Description: Manual Machinist
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. The Manual Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual machines to repair and/or manufacture precision parts, tooling, and instruments in a job shop repair environment. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail, technical proficiency in machining operations, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup and Operation:
- Set up and operate manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
- Select appropriate tools, attachments, and materials based on job specifications.
- Adjust machine settings to ensure precision and accuracy in the manufacturing of parts.
- Reading and Interpreting drawings:
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Understand geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) to meet required specifications.
- Quality Control and Inspection:
- Perform quality checks using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMMs.
- Ensure that finished parts meet tolerance requirements and adhere to quality standards.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure smooth operations.
- Troubleshoot issues with machinery and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and regulations related to machining operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating manual machines (lathe, milling machine, etc.).
- Strong understanding of machining techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Attention to detail and accuracy in workmanship.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to handle machinery and lift materials.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
- Commitment to safety guidelines and practices.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in machining is preferred.
- Additional certifications or coursework in machining is a plus.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
Working Conditions:
- This position typically operates in a job shop/repair environment.
- May involve standing for extended periods and lifting heavy materials.
- Regular exposure to machinery, noise, and airborne particles.
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required and provided.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.50 - $30.00 per hour
