Job Overview: As a Property Accountant, you will play a pivotal role, managing the accounting and financial reporting for all assigned condominium, cooperative, and homeowner's association clients. Reporting to a Team Lead, you will work closely with the Controller and Property Management to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for all clients. Additionally, you will be actively involved in overseeing the monthly accounting and closing processes for a portfolio of properties, reviewing accounts payable and accounts receivable, cash management, and trustee/client reporting.
Function : Responsible for the performance and oversight of assigned staff accountants in all accounting and financial reporting for condominium, cooperative, and homeowner’s association Property Management clients, while also taking a hands-on role in the accounting processes for a portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Managing the daily activity and monthly close of all properties/cost centers in assigned portfolio from start to finish.
- Supervising a team of staff property accountants in their daily/monthly processes.
- Payment of all invoices and related cash management entries.
- Creation and posting of adjusting journal entries and accruals.
- Reconciliation of related bank accounts.
- Maintenance of key accounting schedules.
- Preparation and review of balance sheet and P&L activity with supporting schedules, as required.
- Delivering financial information and communicating with internal and external stakeholders to answer queries.
- Preparing monthly financial reporting packages for trustees of assigned associations.
- Collaborating on year-end financial statements, audits, and tax preparation in tandem with Property Management, Controller, and CFO.
- Working closely with Property Management on the onboarding of new clients.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of efficiencies in processes and procedures to improve process flow and accuracy.
- Upload information for annual budget templates and support Account Executives in the annual budgeting process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a property accounting role.
- 2+ years of condo association and property management accounting experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with Yardi, Avid Strongroom, CINC a plus.
- Excellent planning, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Process-oriented with an acute attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Capable of supporting an entrepreneurial and collaborative team.
