Note: Hires for this Position are At-Will and serve at the pleasure of the General Registrar.
All employees under the Prince William County Director of Elections/General Registrar are sworn public election officials. They must exercise sound judgment and attention to detail in performing complex and difficult tasks inherent to all aspects of election administration, in compliance with Federal, State and Local election laws.
ABOUT THIS ROLE:
Performs progressively responsible services and administrative duties. Provides a high level of clerical work conducting voter registration and local, state and federal elections in Prince William County.
Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Chief Deputy Registrar or designee according to the requirements levied by the Electoral Board and the General Registrar of Voters, in accordance with state and federal election laws.
TYPICAL TASKS:

Operate standard office equipment (computers, copiers, fax machines, multi-line phones)

Perform data entry, word processing, and create spreadsheets.

Safeguard confidential and sensitive information.

Assist with in-person and mail-in absentee voting.

Register qualified citizens to vote.

Validate and process voter registration applications.

Support recruitment, training, and retention of Election Officers

Handle candidate filings and reports.
-
Ensure fair, equitable, and transparent elections.

Manage inventory and deployment of Election Day supplies.

Assist with accounts payable and office expenditures.
Preferences:

High school diploma or equivalent.

2-3 years of experience or training in basic computer skills (data entry, word processing, spreadsheets)

Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures

Special Requirements:
- Resident and registered voter in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Valid Virginia Driver's license
- Ability to pass a DMV record check
- Ability to lift 40-60 lbs., if applicable
Work Schedule:
This position is scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week (8:30am – 5:00pm with an hour lunch break daily).
During some periods near each election, some overtime may be required. The selected candidate will work at the Office of Elections’ Main Office in Manassas, VA.
Starting Salary Range:
$19.41 - $28.00 Hourly
$37,849.50 - $54,600.00 Annually
