As a Urology Center of Iowa Patient Access Representative, you will be an important part of promoting our mission to provide compassionate, world-class urologic care and exceptional experiences for our patients, employees, and partners. The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in representing the practice within the community. Duties and responsibilities for this role are:
- Process referral records and patient information
- Maintain data reports and update billing information
- Check for insurance verification
- Coordinate across medical departments
- Correspond with insurance companies
- Greeting patients professionally both in person and on the phone
- Quickly answering or appropriately referring questions and issues
- Optimizing provider schedules and patient satisfaction with efficient scheduling
- Ensuring availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient charges, controlling credit extended to patients, and filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.
- Maintaining office inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and expediting supply orders
- Communication skills to converse clearly over the telephone and in person
- Organization and time management to manage a variety of tasks effectively
- Attention to detail to schedule patients correctly
- Technological skills, such as using word processing and spreadsheet programs, various different electronic medical records, among others.
- Interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients who may be upset or stressed
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
