JOB DESCRIPTION
The Toolmaker will be responsible for repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and sharpening of progressive transfer dies (for presses of capacity of up to 1500 tons).
SHIFT(S) AVAILABLE:
2nd Shift: 2pm - 10:15 pm (Monday to Friday)
3rd Shift: 10pm - 6:15am (Sunday to Thursday)
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Provide timely in-press support to troubleshoot issues and limit downtime tied to die performance.
- Repair and troubleshooting of progressive and transfer dies.
- Responsible for maintaining production dies in peak efficiency to produce quality product.
- Advises Tool Room Supervisor of changes required to improve tool performance.
- Accountable for ensuring that the necessary equipment, materials and protective devices prescribed by Company policies/procedures are provided and properly used.
- Provide tooling support for robotic weld fixtures.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years experience troubleshooting dies in a metal stamping environment.
- Minimum of 5 years as a Toolmaker in a heavy metal stamping press environment performing maintenance of progressive and transfer dies.
- Hands-on approach to solving problems, able to work proactively and independently, ability to prioritize activities.
- Transfer press experience is a must.
- Previously licensed to use overhead crane.
- Forklift experience would be considered an asset.
