Long-Term Substitute for Alumni Advisor Position Description
Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School is hiring for a long-term substitute for Alumni Advisor from August - December 2024. The long-term substitute for Alumni Advisor will report to the Principal.

ALUMNI ADVISOR DESCRIPTION
Working as a two-person team, the Alumni Advisors will collaborate with the administration and college counselors to maintain and expand a comprehensive to-and-through college counseling program that focuses on the academic, financial, and social health and well being of all students.
The Alumni Advisor is responsible for outreach and advising for Cristo Rey graduates in an effort to improve the degree attainment rate of our first generation, low income students. CRSJ seeks to educate and foster in our students meaningful college readiness and life skills to support the transition to higher education. Additionally, the Alumni Advisor will help to develop and maintain Cristo Rey partnership agreements with 4-year and 2-year institutions to create bridges for successful student transitions and undergraduate degree completion.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Reporting to the Principal, the specific responsibilities for the Alumni Advisor include:
Senior Preparation
- Plan & facilitate Spring Break College Tours to engage junior class with alumni on campuses
- Plan and teach College and Career Readiness (CCR) curriculum to seniors during spring term, and as needed by College Counselors. This class introduces financial literacy, time management and executive function techniques, self advocacy skills, race/identity awareness, how to manage family relationships, and specific college resources for academic success and personal wellness.
- Introduce alumni support program and provide transition orientation for alumni parents
- Facilitate “family decision meetings” as needed
Alumni Support
- Work one-on-one with alumni entering their first year as they transition to college through summer meetings to confirm orientation and registration requirements, and ensuring that health insurance coverage is transferred or waivers are confirmed (which may include some travel to visit them on campus)
- Engage and document alumni progress through campus visits, email, and social media interactions, including coordination of incentives to encourage participation
- Coordinate review and distribution of CRSJ scholarships and emergency funding requests
- Evaluate and document student’s transition progress
- Review term grades, and recommend individual resources/strategies for improvement as needed
- Support registration, FAFSA submission, and transfer planning
- Develop and maintain college partnerships to track alumni through FERPA waivers
- Coordinate promotion of summer internship/employment opportunities with the Corporate Work Study Program
- Analyze and scrub NSC data to track alumni and follow-up based on enrollment reports
Outreach
- Communicate with alumni through social media, email, phone calls, Skype, text messages, Snapchat, and Instagram.
- Plan campus visits to check in with alumni in college, and engaging alumni across classes
- Plan various alumni events: Senior send-off, January Reunion, and career planning workshops
- Publicize scholarships, internships, and job opportunities to
- alumni
- Send out school updates via alumni webpage, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
- Send care packages to all first term students prior to final exams
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. .
- Experience in college counseling, college student development, residence life, student activities, academic advising.
- Data collection, analysis, and reporting skills using spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
- Ability to travel out of state and across the country to visit alumni in college settings
- Ability to connect with students via all social media platforms outside of regular business hours.
- Prior experience in Cristo Rey schools, Teach for America, Americorps, KIPP, or Jesuit Volunteer Corps a plus.

SALARY AND COMPENSATION
- Range between $69,629 and $134,259 on a salary schedule based on education and years of experience.
