Data Engineer
Location: Washington, D.C./Remote
Job Description
Serve as a data engineer to help develop and deploy technical solutions to challenging problems
Integrate data, transform insights, and build first-class applications for operational decisions
Leverage core company products, open source technologies, and your team to drive real impact
Work with customers around the globe
Gain rare insight into the world’s most important industries and institutions
Capable of facing different challenges to include:
- Regulatory issues
- Nature of the data
- User population
Works to accommodate all aspects of an environment to drive real technical outcomes
Setup transfers of data feeds from source systems into locations accessible to Foundry
Debug issues related to delayed or missing data feeds
Write transformations and derive new datasets using Spark for distributed computation
Monitor build progress and debug build problems
Use application development framework to design applications that address operational questions
Provide rapid development and iteration cycles with SME’s
Execute requests for information (RFI’s) surrounding the platform’s data footprint
Participate in the engineering team's on-call rotations for time-sensitive technical support commitments
Qualifications:
Strong engineering background with a preference for:
- Computer Science
- Mathematics
- Software Engineering
- Physics
- Data Science
Proficiency with programming languages such as Python (Pyspark, Pandas), SQL, R or similar ones
Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals
Proven track-record of strong customer communications including:
- Feedback gathering
- Execution updates
- Troubleshooting
Requires: Active DOD Secret Clearance
