Position Summary: The Latin Groove Dance Instructor will be responsible for planning and conducting Latin dance classes, primarily focusing on salsa, merengue, bachata, and other Latin dance styles. The instructor will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for participants while promoting fitness and wellness. This position requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about Latin dance and can effectively teach and motivate participants of all ages and skill levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and Conduct Latin Dance Classes:
- Develop and implement Latin dance lesson plans that align with the YMCA's fitness goals and guidelines.
- Instruct participants on various Latin dance styles, including salsa, merengue, bachata, and cha-cha.
- Ensure that each class provides a balanced workout, including warm-up, instruction, and cool-down periods.
- Provide Instruction:
- Demonstrate dance techniques and movements with clarity and enthusiasm.
- Provide individual feedback and guidance to participants to ensure proper technique and skill development.
- Modify routines and exercises to accommodate participants with varying skill levels, physical abilities, and special needs.
- Ensure Safety and Inclusivity:
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Monitor the facility to ensure it is hazard-free and set up appropriately for classes.
- Provide alternative movements or exercises to prevent injuries and accommodate participants with physical limitations.
- Promote Fitness and Wellness:
- Encourage participants to engage in regular physical activity and promote the benefits of dance for fitness and overall well-being.
- Educate participants on the cultural and historical aspects of Latin dance styles to enhance their appreciation and understanding.
- Customer Service:
- Greet participants warmly and create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
- Respond to participant inquiries, feedback, and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Foster a sense of community among participants and encourage them to support each other
