Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating forklifts in warehouse and distribution center environments.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Operate (electric or propane) forklift in and between buildings, yard areas, or production areas around people. Forklift driving can be for IQF processing lines, crate wash, general cleanup, and/or shipping and receiving area.
This position has direct responsibility for food safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Receiving Area:
- Receive and assist in unloading large containers or stacks of containers from truck to receiving area.
- Assist truck drivers by providing direction while backing their loads up to the receiving area.
- Move product to cool rooms as product is received.
Production Area:
- Feed product to lines in designated work areas to ensure continued workflow.
- Move, stack, and/or transport product safely among several designated work areas.
- Assist supervisor/line leads in monitoring product flow and operating equipment.
All Drivers:
- Conduct daily forklift safety inspection of designated forklift.
- Keep area clean, this includes, clearing floor of garbage, cardboard, pieces of pallet, product, etc.
- Assist the Shift Supervisor in a variety of other jobs when not driving the lift truck.
- Must practice good safety skills and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Complete all training for OSHA compliance, Hazmat and MSDS requirements and regulations (i.e. Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection/Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Ammonia Control, Hot Work, Emergency Response and Evacuation, etc.).
- Additional duties to be performed as instructed by the supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required minimum of 6 months of previous, verifiable forklift driving experience. Experience working in production or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of forklift daily safety inspections and ability to follow forklift safety rules.
- Must pass in-house forklift training program. Work assignment is based on skill of driver as observed by supervisory staff
- Ability to follow direction from supervisors and work well with others. Must be willing to perform other work duties when forklift driving positions are not available.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a safe and orderly fashion.
- Must be able to get up and off the forklift to wrap or help stack pallets.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position typically spends about 100% of the time in a production environment. The majority of the time spent performing the duties of this job will be operating an electric or propane forklift. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and to use hands to finger, handle or feel and see objects in a productive environment. Also be able to get on and off the forklift several times in a shift. Must have good manual dexterity skills.
While performing this job, the employee may be required to spend a significant part of the time in a freezer type environment, ranging from 0°F to -20°F.
The employee performing this job must be able to sit, stand, bend, pull, kneel, squat frequently and have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to 75 lbs. Employee must be able to work 8-12 hours per day, 5-7 days a week.
Equipment Used: Electric or propane forklift, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 60 per week
