2nd shift MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY
From fabrication to final assembly, Stepp is a full manufacturing facility for asphalt maintenance equipment. Our equipment heats, stores, transports, and applies all types of asphaltic material for maintaining the roadways.

This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and involves performing mechanical assembly operations according to documented manufacturing procedures to build trailer and truck mounted asphalt equipment from the ground up. Involves sub-assembly of the individual component parts to our equipment, as well as final assembly into its complete and finished product.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of various mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical functions with the ability to diagnose and repair such systems. Certified Diesel Technician or work experience that provides similar knowledge, skills, and abilities is a bonus.
2nd SHIFT - Full time position MONDAY – THURSDAY, overtime available
Starting wage range $20.00 - $28.00 hourly depending on experience plus $3 shift differential for 2nd shift!
MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use of basic hand and power tools to sub-assemble individual components such as engine cabinets, control boxes, shovel cleaning compartments, some electrical/wiring,
- Use of basic and hand power tools to assemble the sub-components together into the final manufactured unit, including mounting 2-4 ton capacity hoppers to trailer frames, installation of control boxes, wiring harnesses, and a variety heating systems such as LP and Diesel burners.
- Adhere to documented manufacturing procedures such as Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly drawings, and work instructions.
- Adhere to documented Final Inspection Process to analyze, inspect, and test the operations of the systems and components of the completed units to determine effective performance
- Other duties deemed necessary to support the Company's business operations, (ie. Service and Repair and/or other cross-trainable departments within the shop)
- Actively participate in the Company’s continuous improvement efforts by identifying and communicating basic process improvements.
MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprint drawings, BOMs, wiring schematics, and associated procedures
- Operate electronic testing equipment, precision instruments and gauges, hand tools, portable power tools, and cranes and hoists
- Ability to diagnose and repair various mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical functions for heavy equipment
- Ability to repair or replace defective parts, adjust settings and reassemble according to specifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Gripping with hands/fingers, reaching, fine dexterity and motor skills for efficient and regular use of basic hand and power tools and assembly of small component parts.
- Remaining alert to surroundings, specifically when operating equipment and/or machinery.
- 50 lbs max lifting requirement (cranes available for use for any lifting that exceeds 50 lbs).
- Must be able to reason and partake in critical decision making.
- Attention to detail and concentration towards task at hand.
- Frequent bending/ twisting/ turning
- Frequent and extended periods of standing required

Qualifications:
- 2-3 years mechanical assembly experience required
- Certified Diesel Technician or similar experience is a bonus
- Some hydraulics and/or other power transmission systems experience preferred
- Some 12 volt electrical systems experience preferred
