Lead Machinist
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Machinist to join our team. The Lead Machinist will be responsible for overseeing a team of machinists in the operation of various machines such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and other equipment to produce high-quality parts in accordance with customer specifications. The Lead Machinist will also be responsible for ensuring that production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and that all safety protocols are adhered to.
The Lead Machinist will be responsible for:
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the machining department, ensuring that all work is completed on time, to specification, and within budget.
· Assign tasks to machinists and provide guidance and training as needed.
· Review work orders, blueprints, specifications, and other instructions to determine the appropriate machining process and equipment required to produce the required parts.
· Set up and operate various machines such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and other equipment to produce high-quality parts to specification.
· Ensure that all machinery is properly maintained, calibrated, and repaired as necessary to prevent downtime and ensure the safety of all personnel.
· Monitor production schedules to ensure that deadlines are met and make adjustments as necessary to maximize efficiency and productivity.
· Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and quality assurance, to ensure that all parts meet customer specifications and quality standards.
· Coordinate with outside vendors/machine shops to ensure the items not manufactured in house are made to our standards.
· Assist the assembly floor manager when needed.
· Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, including the proper use of personal protective equipment, machine guards, and other safety measures.
· Mentor and train the manufacturing team.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or other formal training in machining preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a machining role, with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
· Proficiency in the operation of various machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders.
· Strong understanding of machining principles and techniques, including tool selection, cutting speeds, feeds, and other variables.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical documentation.
· Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
· Experience with CNC programming and operation is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $57,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
