The Georgia Department of Education – Division of State Schools are recruiting for the position of Math Coach. Math Coach will work under the direction of School Superintendent and provides assistance with the full implementation and monitoring of the math program in response to intervention needed for students’ success. Duties include but are not limited to:
Description of Duties
Research and provide staff support that will improve math teaching and learning, including teaching strategies, assessment of math skills, interpretation and use of assessment results; prepare materials and identify resources for use by AASD staff
Research and provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative math practices through various activities such as: individual discussions, coaching sessions, demonstration lessons with pre- and post- discussion/analysis, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities
Conducts demonstration lessons to ensure that all teachers have been trained to an advanced level of delivery and are using the instructional materials as designed
Provides on-site staff development to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about math program components and understand the instructional design of how the program meets the standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- Possesses or is eligible to obtain Georgia Teacher Certification in the grade or content area of the prospective position
- Three years of experience teaching deaf/hard of hearing students in the content area
- Applicants must exhibit the ability to communicate in American Sign Language during the interview with the expectation of obtaining an American Sign Language Proficiency Instrument (ASLPI) rating of 3 or above within three years from date of hire
