Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in accurately assessing project costs and providing valuable insights to support decision-making. Duties & Responsibilities:
Estimating:
Assess each RFP to determine the direct costs of the project and provide a plan for how to profitably build the project
Overall cost analysis, pre-project, and post-project review
Perform turnkey estimating duties
Create/maintain organized estimate files
Establish complete understanding of project scope of work related to request for proposal
List a comprehensive estimate with detailed line items appropriate for the scope of work of each project
Solicit accurate pricing from subcontractors/vendors/suppliers to ensure adequate coverage of each estimated line item
Organize project site visits, if necessary, to define scope and become familiarize with the project
Define/confirm scope of work for each subcontractor/vendor/supplier and produce a written scope sheet certified by the same if other documentation of scope is not completely clear
Submit proposals in a professional manner and in the time frame and format required
Submit RFI’s to clarify any relevant information not clarified in the bid documents
Include scope of work clarifications that includes all document clarifications in the proposal to the GC.
Follow-up with proposals as needed
Vetting new GCs to make sure they are low risk before submitting a proposal
Formulate estimate requirements for electrical equipment on a design/build basis
AbilIty to break down construction operations into a logical sequence of activities
Job walks as needed
Contract review and negotiation prior to contract execution as needed
Communicate strategic business development opportunities with the President
Preconstruction:
Manages all pre-construction related correspondence associated with assigned projects
Ensures the flow of pre-construction information is maintained and documented
Communicates and stays abreast of the latest information affecting all aspects of cost used to prepare estimates and correspondence
Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers that reflect and support the company
Assist with sales and project negotiations
Assist in finding new projects to meet revenue goals
Actively participates in industry, client and community relations to enhance company image
Actively build subcontractor/supplier database and relationships to ensure key partnerships are maintained
Timely & accurately buyout large and long lead item contracts, review submittals, and release ordering as needed to reduce schedule and cost risks.
Assist the PM with reviewing submittals and shop drawings for accuracy
Answer field questions as needed
Review job costing reports for red flags
Support the project team with change orders during the project as needed
Check in with project managers as needed
Weekly Metric Reporting
Sends weekly update to the President
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Electrical Estimating or Field electrical experience: 2-4 years preferred.
Degree in Construction Management or similar is preferred.
Driver’s license is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Sufficient understanding of the principles of estimating
Ability to read construction schematics, drawings, plans and bid documents
High attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Written and verbal communication skills

Willing to work overtime as required by project deadlines
Excellent computer skills including Excel, MS Office, SharePoint, etc.
Possess strong mathematical skills
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50lbs or more
Working Conditions:
Works in an office environment for most of the time. May occasionally be in the field making site visits. May need to work overtime to meet estimating deadlines.
