Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Instructional Strategies:
· Develop individual lesson plans based on the program curriculum.
· Assess the academic progress of each student.
· Maintain the academic progress of each student.
· Maintain daily attendance reports and report any discipline incidents.
· Define the individualized academic program for each student and seek additional staff support for the students that need it.
· Use ESL instructional methods and bilingual materials as applicable.
· Submit academic progress reports on a weekly basis for each student.
· Facilitate the development of workshops.
· Implement discipline management techniques developed in the district’s discipline management program.
· Encourage good student discipline by being in regular attendance and on time, being prepared to perform teaching duties with appropriate preparation, assignments, and resource materials.
· Respect other individuals and property and display professional conduct in a manner in accordance with the Texas Code of Ethics.
· Comply with school and agency policies, rules, regulations, and directives.
· Maintain an orderly classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
· Establish rapport and an effective working relationship with parents, students, and other staff members.
· Teach students to strive towards self-discipline.
· Encourage work habits that will lead to the accomplishment of both short-term and long-term goals.
· Serve as role models for students, in accordance to the Texas Code of Ethics.
· Communicate with parents regarding pupil progress, behavior, and attendance.
· Inform the principal of potential problems.
· Maintain accurate records, including attendance and grades.

Prerequisite:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
· Texas teaching certificate (preferred).
· Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
· General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
· Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
