Gray CPA, LLC is a small public accounting firm located in the Twin Cities metro area, providing tax, accounting, and consulting services to many clients in a variety of industries and geographic regions. We are growing very quickly and expect that trend to continue over the next several years. We embrace and utilize technology in many ways to be as efficient and secure as possible. Importantly, we are a client-centric firm, meaning we place heavy emphasis on their satisfaction and comfort with us as their advisors.
We have an office in Farmington, MN and another in Plymouth, MN. The person filling this position can work from either office. Hybrid schedules are potentially available after a few months.
Role Summary:
The Senior Accountant is a crucial member of our Client Accounting and Advisory Services Department and reports directly to the Accounting Manager. This role will prepare and review a variety of engagements. The person in this position will be involved with audits and reviews, financial statement preparation, conducting cash flow projections, and providing various advisory services. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for preparing and filing payroll and sales & use tax returns, ensuring client satisfaction, and adhering to standard firm processes. This position requires regular interaction with the Tax Department to provide seamless client support.
The person filling this role must be passionate about providing legendary client service, is highly professional, a hard worker, and often exceeds expectations. He/she communicates very well and is a great leader. The ideal candidate is energetic, friendly, detail oriented, and has a knack for numbers and technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain high levels of client satisfaction through timely service delivery, prompt communication, and thorough understanding of client needs.
- Review and approve various client deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting regulations.
- Perform bookkeeping services, including data entry, account reconciliations, record accruals, etc.
- Review bookkeeping completed by staff accountants and issue financial statements to clients.
- Assist with financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Provide strategic advisory services to enhance client financial and operational performance, including detailed cash flow analyses and projections.
- Prepare/review and file timely and accurate payroll tax returns and sales & use tax returns.
- Adhere to standard firm policies and procedures.
- Support, train, and assist staff accountants, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and staff.
- Contribute to a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices.
- Assist with various accounting and financial tasks as required.
- Collaborate effectively with the Tax Department and other relevant departments to ensure cohesive client service and resolve any interdisciplinary issues.
Other Duties:
- Participate in weekly department meetings.
- Participate in regular one-on-one conversations with Accounting Manager.
- Set and complete quarterly Rocks.
- Be accountable for individual performance results, meeting goals, completing Rocks, and meeting weekly scorecard metrics, etc.
- Ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
- Engage in continuous learning through reading, podcasts, videos, coaching/consulting, conferences, etc. Topics of primary focus should include accounting, technology, leadership, efficiency, etc.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a staff or senior accountant with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in various software applications, with an aptitude to learn new ones quickly.
- Excellent analytical, time-management, and organizational abilities.
- Show potential for exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of staff and clients.
- Ability to be strategic and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong decision-making capabilities and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or other relevant certification is highly preferred, or a desire to pursue.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with a significant focus on financial statement preparation and advisory services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
