Xiente, formerly known as Norris Square Community Alliance (NSCA), is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming communities by empowering individuals to achieve economic mobility. Established in 1982 by a group of neighborhood women, Xiente has grown to address the comprehensive needs of the community, including affordable housing, community organizing, employment training, early childhood education, and youth development programs.

The Xiente Teen Center provides vital youth development opportunities, operating from 3 PM to 9 PM to engage teens in productive and educational activities. Additionally, the center serves as a safe haven for youth from 9 PM to 2 AM, offering support and services to those brought in by the police after curfew hours. This initiative ensures that young people have a secure environment where they can access essential resources and guidance during critical times.

About Youth Development Membership Coordinator
The Youth Development Membership Coordinator is responsible for managing and enhancing the membership base of the organization, with a focus on youth engagement and development. This position serves as the primary liaison between the organization and its members, handling inquiries, ensuring member satisfaction, and maintaining accurate membership records. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies for member retention and recruitment, organizing member-related events, and preparing membership marketing materials. The role also involves collaborating with community partners, providing continuous contact with parents and local schools, and supporting the overall mission of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and have experience working with Salesforce and in youth development or a related field.
Xiente is seeking a Youth Development Membership Coordinator for our Youth Take Action Program.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Visitor and Student Management: Greet, monitor, and track all visitors and students, ensuring the safety, security, and professional appearance of the front desk.
- Orientation: Orientate prospective participants through site tours, program overviews, eligibility requirements, and benefits to establish familiarity with programs and services.
- Communication: Distribute information about upcoming events and activities to students, parents, and the public. Maintain updated bulletin boards with important notices, procedures, and guidelines.
- Data Management: Maintain monthly data and reports required for program support and grant compliance, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date across multiple platforms, primarily Salesforce.
- Deadline Management: Ensure all operational, informational, and data-related deadlines are met.
- New Student Orientation: Plan and implement orientation programs for new students.
- Program Coordination: Develop, coordinate, and implement activities at the Teen Center, including maintaining daily attendance records, managing supply requisitions, and keeping detailed inventory lists of all materials and equipment.
- Youth Engagement: Encourage youth participation in programs and activities.
- Crisis Intervention: Intervene and follow up on incidents and assist in crisis situations involving youth.
- Collaborative Activities: Participate and assist with educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities, collaborating with other staff to meet the goals of each participant.
- Communication with Staff: Maintain ongoing communication with staff regarding each youth’s progress.
- Program Transportation and Development: Assist with program transportation needs and participate in professional development training.
- Role Modeling: Present yourself as a positive role model for youth.
- Additional Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors..
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or GED required; a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Must have at least one year of experience in managing and tracking data, with demonstrated proficiency in Salesforce.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in PC applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and phone skills are essential.
- Project Management: Must be timely and accurate with assigned projects, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
- Independence: Ability to perform duties without direct supervision and manage repetitive tasks according to set procedures.
- Confidentiality: Must maintain strict confidentiality of all information.
- Background Check: Will be required to undergo and successfully pass a background check.
- Interpersonal Skills: Comfortable working with children and adults in a fast-paced, professional environment.
- Driving: Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a van if needed.
- Preferred Skills: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or another language commonly spoken in the community is preferred, but not require.
Schedule of the Position: Monday to Friday from 1:00pm to 9:00pm.
