The Rowing Club of The Woodlands (RCTW) is seeking a passionate and experienced full-time Head Coach to join our nationally-recognized team. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, motivational, and enthusiastic person with proven experience in leading a competitive Rowing program.
This position is located on the pristine Lake Woodlands in The Woodlands, Texas, just north of Houston. The lake is approximately 2,500 meters in length and offers an idyllic setting that blends both nature and scenic neighborhoods along the water. The temperate weather offers a rare opportunity for year-round rowing on the lake.
The RCTW Head Coach will be responsible for leading all aspects of our Competitive Junior's and Masters Program . The junior program pulls members from various high school programs in the area and has become an increasingly competitive force at the regional and national levels. The team currently boasts a two-time National U19 men's single champion and recently qualified an impressive 9 boats to US Rowing 2024 Youth Nationals.
The core job responsibilities would be to:
Serve as a role model and inspirational leader of the team, demonstrating an ethical, hard-working, and positive attitude.
Oversee safety policies and procedures for the rowing team.
Develop a training plan and weekly practice schedule for the athletes.
Provide technical instruction and motivational support during practices and competitions.
Record, monitor, and provide constructive feedback to athletes regarding their rowing progress.
Oversee spring and fall regattas including registration, competitive line-ups, rentals (as needed) and driving the crew trailer when required.
Help manage the master program.
Supervise and mentor assistant coaches.
Together with the Boathouse Committee, manage and inventory all equipment including maintaining launches and engines & ergometers; Assist with inventory and ordering of new equipment.
Attend club board meetings when required by the board; respond to requests from the media and support student-athletes in the college admission process as needed.

Ability to develop rowing technique and athletic conditioning in athletes of varying ages, experience, and skills.

Required Qualifications:
Experience as a rower or coxswain and previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level, including strong technical knowledge of the sport.
Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
Boat & Water Safety Experience.
US Rowing Association Level 1 Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain), Level 2 preferred.
Safe Sport Certified.
A valid state boating license or willing to obtain a Texas Boating license.
Other Details:
Remuneration – Base salary between $70,000 and $75,000 depending on qualifications and with bonus opportunities available.
Practices are traditionally held 6 days a week on Lake Woodlands (time depending on school schedules and other factors)
