Reports To: Environmental Services Supervisor

Keeps buildings, labs, apartments, and other Institute-owned buildings in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

Following are the main responsibilities of an Environmental Services Technician:
- Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Cleans offices, labs, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
- Sweeps, vacuums, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Dusts furniture and equipment.
- Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork as needed.
- Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empties wastebaskets.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Reports needs for major repairs to the Housekeeping Supervisor
- Responsible for the scanning and disposing of the regulated medical waste

- Physical strength and dexterity to operate the necessary machinery and perform all required cleaning duties.
- Ability to read any special instructions and to understand labels and MSDS on cleaning products.
Education and/or Experience/ Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
High School diploma or equivalency and/or 2-4 years of related experience

- Must be able to withstand long periods of standing, walking, bending, and/or stooping and reaching

- Occasional discomforts dealing with unpleasant fumes, odors, and chemical substances
- May be exposed to sharps and/or other medical waste
Lifting Requirements:
Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying
MEDIUM objects weighing up to 25 pounds
Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying
HEAVY objects up to 50 pounds
Lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds with frequent lifting and or
VERY HEAVY carrying objects weighing 50 pounds or more
