Job Summary of the Electrical and Automation Engineering Supervisor: We are seeking a skilled Electrical and Automation Engineering Supervisor to join our Engineering team in Omaha, Nebraska. As an Electrical and Automation Engineering Supervisor, you will work closely with the risk management, EHS, engineering, and manufacturing teams to identify trends and implement preventive measures that minimize product and process failures.
Job Responsibilities of the Electrical and Automation Engineering Supervisor:
- Ensure timely completion of Controls and Automation design tasks.
- Review and approve ECOs, design packages, bills of materials, firmware/software, math data, and other technical documentation.
- Provide leadership and expertise to the Controls and Automation team.
- Assist other engineering teams and provide electrical and automation engineering support for large cross-functional projects.
- Support research and development activities.
- Review design risk assessment, verification, and validation activities as required.
- Design and validate embedded hardware systems, schematics, and PCB assemblies; Develop and validate embedded software in C.
- Program microcontrollers and PLCs to process I/O signals and ensure reliable communications.
- Review Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and provide support to address root causes and resolve issues.
- Coordinate engineering activities across all engineering teams in collaboration with the Director of Engineering and Engineering Managers.
- Supervise a team of Electrical Engineers, Automation Engineers, and Application Engineers supporting our Control and Automation products.
Education & Experience of the Electrical and Automation Engineering Supervisor:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
- 3 – 7 years of experience managing and leading technical staff as an engineering manager, supervisor, or other technical team lead.
- Familiarity with UL, IEC, FCC, and similar standards for electrical system design and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of embedded system design, firmware, and software code creation, review, and control.
- Experience with EPLAN Electric P8, Altium Designer, and embedded software development in C.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high productivity to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, and Industrial Ethernet communication protocols is a plus.
