Overview:
Peel Properties, a property management company, is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Building Engineer who will be responsible for assisting in the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment within our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, including boilers, HVAC systems, pumps, and other equipment.

Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and safety.

Ensure all building systems comply with safety regulations and standards. Conduct safety checks and report any hazards or violations to identify and implement effective solutions.

Perform or supervise the installation, fabrication, construction, troubleshooting and repairing of complex mechanical and electrical equipment

Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and troubleshoot mechanical issues

Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as equipment failures or power outages, and take corrective actions to minimize downtime.

Monitor equipment performance and make recommendations for improvements or upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory levels.

Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.

Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure smooth operations.

Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to mechanical engineering.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or technical training in mechanical engineering is preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a similar role, preferably in a commercial environment.

Possession of a valid 3rd Class Engineer license/certification.

Experience in energy-efficient knowledge and implementation.

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
