The Brunswick School is seeking a Kitchen Manager with experience in catering and bulk cooking for a central kitchen of an Organic Meal delivery service program preparing meals for multiple schools. You must combine strong organizational and prioritization skills with professional dedication and a team-oriented attitude. As a Kitchen Manager, you must be dependable, self-reliant, and passionate about healthy food and exceptional customer service.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the management of day-to-day operations of the school food program
- Performing quality control of all food leaving the kitchen to the schools
- Managing inventory so that all necessary ingredients are stocked for service
- Collaborating with the Director of Operations and Head Chef in interviewing and hiring new staff
- Collaborating with the Director of Operations and Head Chef in providing training to facilitate quick acclimation
- Streamlining and optimizing the kitchen processes and food prep to maintain prompt service
- Minimum 5 years in catering or large-scale cooking
- Experience in kitchens that perform bulk cooking
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Competency with computer skills such as Microsoft Office Suite, culinary software and/or QuickBooks
- Working with the Head Chef to develop the school menu
- Setting regular cleaning standards for the kitchen and maintaining a high level of sanitation
- Tracking kitchen finances to identify areas of potential waste
- Assist the Head Chef with weekly and monthly cost reports
- Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area
- Check food plating and ensure that all meals are accurately plated; double checking substitute and allergy-free meals
- Assist with school marketing and admissions events to promote the food program
- Responsible for overseeing quarterly inspections and other kitchen compliance processes
- Ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to standards based on business expectations.
- Ability to delegate to team members to guarantee timely delivery of all meals
Job Requirements:
- Strong interest in cooking plant-forward cuisine.
- Preference given for someone who worked at least one year in a school or similar environment as a cook.
- Training from a culinary school is an asset.
- Familiarity with preparing sound nutrition and special diets.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.

- Serv Safe Food Manager Certification (and/or ability to be recertified in 90 days if preexisting certificate has expired)
