JOB DESCRIPTION
Residential Support Specialists create and maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu for the emotional nurturing and healthy development of youth in Residential Care. Through a trauma informed lens, counselors empower youth to execute their individualized treatment plans while providing physical care, social and moral guidance, teaching skills, and role modeling.

Through our 14 programs which span over 9 different locations, our team of 400 employees provide youth and families with evidenced-based practices which supports The San Diego Center for Children's mission: to empower children and families through transformative mental health care and educational services.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will help provide direct care to youth in treatment by:

Providing individual and group milieu counseling to youth facing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, active psychosis, anger management and trauma.

Developing and implementing treatment plans in collaboration with other team members, including managers, nurses, therapists, and doctors.

Empowering youth to reach their safety goals, and provide crisis support as needed.

Creating a safe and supportive environment where youth feel heard and understood.

Advocating for the needs of youth.

Celebrating the successes of each youth on their journey to recovery.
SHIFTS AVAILABLE:
Full Time Schedules (when available):
AM: 6:30am - 2:30pm (Sunday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Saturday)
PM: 2:00pm - 11:00pm (Sunday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Saturday)
OVERNIGHT: 10:30pm - 8:30am (Sunday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Saturday)
Weekend shifts are available!
AM: 6:30am - 2:30pm (Saturday and Sunday)
PM: 2:00pm - 11:00pm (Saturday and Sunday)
Part Time Positions AVAILABLE!
ABOUT YOU:
The ideal candidate will be patient and understanding, excellent communicators and active listeners, creative and resourceful, culturally competent and team players.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 21 years of age

Open to our pay range ($18-19.50/hour), we can't negotiate higher upon entry, however, we have career pathing and promotion opportunities
High school diploma or higher education -
Any criminal history addressed before hiring process

Able to pass a drug screen (this excludes THC), TB test and a physical - we are a "hands-on" facility, and all staff are trained to provide physical holds if our youth become unsafe toward themselves or others

Experience working with youth which is listed on your resume

Able to attend new-hire and ongoing trainings which are held on various days Monday-Friday (most are 11a-6p)

Understand you may be asked to work with Covid positive youth (with appropriate protections)
