Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the CMM Programmer/ Operator is responsible to program and operate the coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to perform layout inspections of production parts.
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.
- Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Complies with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures and housekeeping standards. Responsible Program the CMM using Zeiss Calypso and PCDMIS programming language, with either a part drawing or part CAD model for dimensional information.
- To provide accurate, detailed reports of inspections on samples of castings and machined parts, using Calypso, PCDMIS, and MS Excel Templates.
- To perform calibrations on measurement and test equipment. To perform required statistical process (SPC) Measurements and update SPC records.
- To calibrate simple gages (E.g., gage pins, calipers, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, pH meters, Zhan cups) used traceable standards.
- To request quotes and submit purchase requests for external services to calibrate gages and instruments outside internal capability to calibrate (e.g., temperature gages, pressure gages, thermocouples, TAM panels, Geiger counters, gage standards, thread gages, torque wrenches, etc.)
- Preparation Use Gage tracker software to record the calibration status of all gages. Notify employees when gages in their possession are due for calibration. To perform any inspections required by supervision.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School or equivalent on the job training. Certified Calibration Technician or Certified Quality Technician Certificate Preferred. Five years of inspection or layout experience, one year of quality inspection or calibration experience.
Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees to share information, solves problems, and instructs or employees. Must have the ability to read and interpret complex such as print reading. Must have the ability to read and interpret complex documents such as Programming language. Must be able to write standard reports and documentation.
