FRAMEWORK FIRST is a fast-growing Modular Home Builder looking for driven and goal-focused individuals to join our team, and this time we are seeking an experienced Drafter!
As the company continues to grow this position will too, allowing the opportunity to go into a managerial position that can lead a team of drafters. The Drafter will be responsible for creating site plans, construction plans and all necessary documentation to submit plan packages to various nearby City and County departments. (Including but not limited to San Jose, Los Altos, Santa Clara, Pacific Grove, Marina, Aptos, Santa Cruz, etc.) They would also help with changing and updating our homes with new innovation that allows for more green-focused building practices.
The Drafter’s primary focus will be on accessory dwelling units (ADUs), but they will also be responsible for other modular building projects as they arise. The Drafter needs to work well with the Framework First team, as well as our engineers, title 24 designers, HERS inspectors, state inspectors, and City/County permit centers. This position is for someone who believes in the potential of what modular home building can do and how we can optimize efficiency.
The Drafter’s objective is to efficiently submit building plans, quickly respond to plan corrections and ensure that the plans are approved before the project’s deadline. This will also include appropriately responding to requests for additional information that is needed during the permit process. With modular home building you’ll be able to see and learn the building processes up close and firsthand.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in engineering or architecture.
- Degree from a technical college is also acceptable.
- Must have experience in computer-aided design and drafting (CADD).
- Must have submitted plan sets and understand the permit process.
- Must be familiar with California building code, regulations, & process.
- Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
- Must be a self-starter who can work independently or with a team.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Create Site Plans for all new projects.
- Submit plan sets to different cities & counties in California.
- Manage submitted projects until approval.
- Contact local building departments via phone & email.
- Re-submittals (Addressing and revising plan corrections).
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to respond well to criticism and maintain a positive attitude.
Job Specifics:
- Location: 1610 Moffett Street, Salinas, CA
- Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM
- Pay Range: $40 - $70 per hour, depending on experience & skill.
