The McLaughlin lab in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology is seeking an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator to perform administrative support duties related to the collection of clinical data and/or the coordination of clinical studies. Dr. McLaughlin is an NIH-funded clinical investigator whose work is focused on understanding the relationship between excess body weight, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes. Her studies include diet, medical, and surgical interventions, gold-standard metabolic tests, imaging studies to characterize body fat distribution, and adipose tissue biopsies. She is part of the Division of Endocrinology, Gerontology, and Metabolism, which has a long history of major contributions in basic and clinical research, a record of training fellows for academic and clinical careers, and a commitment to providing care for patients with complex endocrine diseases. The basic science and clinical studies that are carried out at Stanford University cover a broad range of areas in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior exposure to medical setting and interfacing with research subjects or patients.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
- Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
- General knowledge of medical terminology.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
- Working toward certification(s) to perform basic patient measurements and tests, such as phlebotomy and EKG.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
- Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
- Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork or parts, rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 40 pounds or more.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Position may at times require the employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or exposure to chemicals, blood, body fluid or tissues and risk of exposure to contagious diseases and infections.
- May require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs.

The expected pay range for this position is $25.48 to $31.25 per hour.
