CAO is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (active license in DC, MD and/or VA) to join our team!
The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics LLC (CAO) is one of the nation’s largest Orthopaedics practices, owned and operated by physicians, with over 60 locations across Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The CAO Central Virtual Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for delivering orthopedic telehealth care services. This role involves patient assessment and evaluation, documentation and review of patient health records, advising patients on in-home self-care when appropriate, and facilitating office visits when necessary. The Virtual Care APP coordinates and determines the appropriate care/disposition which may include test results or requests, medication refills, or internal and external referrals. The Virtual Care APP maintains a patient-centered approach to provide prompt, courteous, and caring services.
Primary Responsibilities:
The incumbent may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this description. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the Mission, Core Values and Operating Principles of CAO.
1. Provides telehealth care services to patients, performs appropriate assessments and evaluations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and assessment results, to determine appropriate plan of care.
2. Orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, advanced imaging, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.
3. Consults with physician when warranted to assess patient condition and treatment.
4. Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
5. Instructs and educates patients/families regarding medications, treatments, and illness prevention. Recommends resources to meet patient and family needs.
6. Provides support to medical and office staff.
7. Ensures consistent compliance with all regulatory and CAO guidelines, policies, and procedures.
8. Refers patients to other physicians or specialists for consultation in an inter- professional manner.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships:
This role does have direct reports.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Nurse Practitioner (with a Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program) or Physician’s Assistant (with completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program) is required.
2. Active NP or PA License or Certification in MD, VA, and/or DC required. Current multi-state licensure a plus. Must be willing to apply for additional state licensure as requested.
3. 2 years’ orthopedic experience required. Telehealth experience a plus.
4. Must maintain CEU's in pertinent clinical practice according to licensure requirements.
5. Experience and proficiency working with computers and electronic medical records.
6. Excellent Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and regulations to give and evaluate patient care.

10. Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in the English language.
11. Bilingual in Spanish language (or other language) is a bonus.
Physical Demands:
1. Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when performing desk duties.
2. Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level in person, over the telephone, or through use of other required technology.
3. Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading materials from printed sources and computer screens.
4. Must be able to sit for long periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds.
