Mental Health Clinical Supervisor Summary: Clinical Supervisor must instruct, review, approve, recognize and evaluate competencies in supervisees and oversee the quality and outcome of the supervisees work with clients. To ensure the each supervisee receives the guidance and support needed to provide treatment services in areas where the supervisee practices.
Mental Health Clinical Supervisor Essential duties and responsibilities:
1. Accept full professional liability for a supervisee's direction of a client's treatment services
2. Remain compliant with licensing agencies to comply with relevant statues and rules (e.g. MN 245G, MN 245I, MN 256B, MN 256I)
3. Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed
4. Establish an evaluation process that identifies the performance and competence of each supervisee
5. Review and approve the progress notes of clients treated by the supervisee according to the supervisee's supervision plan
6. Apply evidence-based practices and research-informed models to treat clients
7. Document clinical supervision of each supervisee and securely maintain the documentation record
8. Develop a clinical supervision plan for each supervisee
9. Review, approve, and sign the diagnostic assessment, individual treatment plans, and treatment plan reviews of clients treated by a supervisee
10. Ability to give clear direction to clinical staff related to alternative strategies when a client is struggling with moving towards recovery
11. Appropriate billing of billable Services by these mental health practitioners under Clinical Supervisor’s license
12. Promote cultural competency by:
(a) developing the supervisee's knowledge of cultural norms of behavior for individual clients and generally for the clients served by the supervisee regarding the client's cultural influences, age, class, gender, sexual orientation, literacy, and mental or physical disability;
(b) addressing how the supervisor's and supervisee's own cultures and privileges affect service delivery;
(c) developing the supervisee's ability to assess their own cultural competence and to identify when consultation or referral of the client to another provider is needed; and
(d) emphasizing the supervisee's commitment to maintaining cultural competence as an ongoing process

Mental Health Clinical Supervisor Minimum Qualifications
· Baccalaureate degree and Master’s degree for MH supervision
· Excellent writing skills.
· Strong influencing skills and sound business judgment
· Demonstrated high level of professionalism and work ethics.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Solid organizational skills including the ability to plan for and manage multiple projects and a multi-faceted workload and to meet deadlines in a detail oriented environment
· Solid computer skills: MS Word, Excel, email and internet applications.
· Hold current LADC or Mental Health Professional licensure through Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy without restrictions that has been in good standing for at least one year while having performed at least 1,000 hours of clinical practice;
· 1 or more years of work experience in direct service or management of direct service to individuals with substance abuse problems
· 3 or more years of experience of direct service supervision
· Be approved, certified, or in some other manner recognized as a qualified clinical supervisor by the person's professional licensing board, when this is a board requirement;
· Knowledge and understanding of Minnesota 245G and Minnesota Statutes, chapter 245A (Human Services Licensing Act), and sections Minnesota Statutes, chapter 260E (Maltreatment of Minors Act), 626.557 (Vulnerable Adults Act- VAA), and 626.5572 (VAA Definitions)
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· Consent to background check and be cleared by DHS to work within a human services program
· Ability to coach, teach, and practice skills with supervisees
· Have current TB/Mantoux screening

The Clinical Supervisor is an employee of NSR who provides mental health and/or substance abuse disorder services and whose training and education is appropriate to the supervision they are providing.
The Billing/Clinical Supervisor who is responsible for the overall clinical supervision of the clinical trainees is an employee of NSR. Because of the requirements of a multidisciplinary environment and an integrated treatment model, the varied requirements of the licensing boards, clinical supervision must be provided in the varied ways we provide it.
