POSITION TITLE: Resident Manager Aide
LOCATION/DEPT: Harbor Light
REPORTS TO: Resident Manager

DEPARTMENT MISSION
To provide leadership using policies, procedure and available systems to support the Harbor Light center in meeting the mission of The Salvation Army
PROGRAM/CLIENT ENVIRONMENT
The backgrounds of the clients served by The Harbor Light Program will manifest a variety of inappropriate behaviors. When this occurs, employees are to respond within the context of the treatment environment of the site. Employee conduct (actions, dress, etc) and interactions (conversations, written communications, etc.) with clients must also be within the treatment environment of the facility.
OUTCOMES
The Resident Manager Aide provides general support for the residence department and the Resident Manager and Assistant Resident Manager to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for clients
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program Administration
- Duties of the Resident Coordinator are assumed in the case of an absence.
- Building is patrolled periodically.
- Temporary Employment Workers are assigned to jobs when there is a request from an employer.
- Xerox copies are made of material and forms as needed.
- Client Interaction
- The desk clerks and security staff are given supervision.
- Desk clerks are relieved for their breaks and meals.
- Clients are admitted into the residence program and house rules and living expectations are explained. Photo ID is taken.
- Clients nearing completion of their residential stay are given an exit interview.
- Rooms are inspected weekly.
- When needed, clients are helped with filling out employment applications and other forms.
- Urine analysis tests are administered to clients randomly and by request from Outpatient Clinic.
- All other duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Resident Manager.
In contacts related to this positon's duties, this individual acts as a representative of the Army and its mission.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a residential treatment program setting preferred.
- Experience working in a diverse population and conflict resolution preferred.
- At least one year of sobriety required.

- A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in the light of changing job situations/priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self starter.

POSITION LIMITATIONS
- This individual will only commit Salvation Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
- This individual will keep the Resident Manager informed on all critical issues relating to his/her area of responsibility.
- This individual will adhere to all Army policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position is required to do light physical work.
- In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and PC.
- Must be able to walk up two flights of stairs and lift up to 30lbs.
- The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low noise level.
- It is possible the person may have to use defensive techniques with aggressive clients.
- Must be able to work with clients that have poor social skills, suffer from mental illness, and have substance abuse problems.
