Deseret Power is an electrical utility serving Utah and surrounding states. We have an excellent job opportunity for a Substation/Relay Technician at our Bonanza Plant, a 500 MW coal-fired generating station, near Vernal, Utah.
The successful candidate will be required to perform and coordinate the maintenance, testing, and installation, of the cooperative’s substation equipment and protective relay systems to prevent and remedy abnormal behavior or failure of associated equipment. You will be responsible to test, analyze and document “Bulk Electric System” protection equipment, control equipment and circuits, to ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Standards. You will also assist the Metering, Communications, and Powerline departments as needed. You will be required to read drawings and data sheets and keep accurate records and documentation. You will be required to comply with all O.S.H.A. and other generally accepted safety standards. You will be expected to answer emergency call outs outside of normal working hours. Travel and out-of- town stay periodically required.
You must be a High School graduate or equivalent. You must have attended a technical school or have equivalent work experience in a related field.
