Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) is looking for a Safety Coordinator to develop industry specific safety information and aid members with safety related materials. In addition, you will be responsible for the collection of and maintenance of safety information relevant to SBCA’s members’ industries.
To be successful as a Safety Coordinator you should be well-versed in occupational health and safety practices as well as ongoing operations in component manufacturing operations and on-site framing activities. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a safety manual based on OSHA 1926 that includes specific equipment and manufacturing procedures found in the component manufacturing industry. You will be engaged directly with SBCA members, suppliers, and other industry professionals including SBCA’s third party contractors and their employees on a daily basis and may be required to travel to quarterly board meetings, annual conferences, and other events. SBCA needs someone with strong organizational and time management skills, who will precisely organize and lead virtual and in-person meetings, take excellent notes, and establish or promote relationships amongst various constituencies.
Responsibilities:
- Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
- Develop and communicate occupational health and safety policies and procedures
- Organize and conduct occupational health and safety training plans
- Liaise with, communicate, and report to official regulatory bodies on safety matters
- Dialogue with various safety constituencies including state, federal, and private insurance carriers
- Review and refine existing inventory of SBCA safety content
- Research and identify specific safety needs through communication with SBCA members
- Define, gather, create new content that meets industry-specific safety requirements
- Develop a clear safety taxonomy and tagging system for organizing content
- Identify technology and tools for deploying a safety library
- Plan, create, collect, organize, and execute content for SBCA’s safety program
- Guide SBCA’s safety program’s delivery means and methods
- Work with National Framers Council on FrameSAFE revisions and additions
- Maintain well-organized contact lists
- Produce and distribute correspondence
- Provide information by answering questions and requests
- Research and create presentations
- Handle multiple projects
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as necessary
- Reply to email, telephone, or face-to-face inquiries
- Provide assistance for various events
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety guidelines and practices
- Experience in reporting and developing policies and procedures
- Obtain an OSHA 10 card within 60 days of employment
- Obtain an OSHA 30 card within 120 days of employment
- Superior telephone and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
Salary and Benefits
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, with beginning wage expected to be in the range of $27.00- $31.00 per hour. Work from Home
This is a Work from Home position and not centric to a specific geographic location. Successful candidate will be located within the United States and have high-quality, functional, high speed internet access. Computer and accessories will be provided by SBCA while the candidate is expected to have a desk or workspace capable of creating a successful work environment. Travel to SBCA meetings, conferences, staff meetings, and additional SBCA related purposes may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Withstand prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to type at a fast pace for long periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Ability to travel with a commercial airline.
