We are seeking a Lead Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Town and Country Veterinary ! The right candidate must be friendly, outgoing and people oriented. Must be a self-motivated team player who is attentive to detail, effective at oral and written communication, and demonstrates strong technical skills.
CORE RESPONSIBILITES (include but are not limited to):

Provide outstanding client communication, documentation, education, and care to all clients.

Utilizing your skillset to the highest level

Handling and restraining pets for exams

Recording accurate medical records utilizing appropriate veterinary terminology

Assisting medical team members with appointments, x-rays, lab work and other procedures
-
Completing lab work as needed

Performing radiology with an understanding of appropriate fields

Completing medical calculations as needed

Understanding of commonly used veterinary medications

Logging controlled medications
-
Monitoring and addressing concerns for your patients under anesthesia

Completing dentistry to the full scope of legal ability

Cleaning and upkeep as needed

Collaborating closely with DVMs and coworkers
REQUIREMENTS:
Expertise & Experience:

2+ years of experience working as an advanced Veterinary Assistant

Enthusiasm for, and the ability to work at the top of your legal scope in surgery, dentistry and anesthesia monitoring

Strong work ethic

Physical:

Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Must frequently lift 40 pounds.

Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.

Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.

Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.

Must be comfortable restraining animals during medical examinations.
REPORTS TO: Practice Manager
PAY: $15-23/hour DOE.
