The Maintenance Technician is based out of the Toronto Blue Jays’ Spring Training Facilities in Dunedin, Florida. The Maintenance Technician will perform work to keep machines, mechanical equipment, and the structure of the establishment at optimal performance levels at all times. Duties may include, but are not limited to plumbing, insulating, carpentry, and repairing buildings, floors, and/or ceilings. Assisting others in repairing electrical or mechanical equipment and installing new equipment. Ability and willingness to perform key responsibilities listed above at both the Player Development Complex and TD Ballpark.
Important Note: We are recruiting for one Maintenance Technician position. This position is a reoccurring 12-month contract role with the opportunity for overtime. This is not a benefited position.
Key Responsibilities
- Paint or repair doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
- Perform general cleaning of buildings or properties.
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, or equipment.
- Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Repair machines, equipment, or structures using various and appropriate tools.
- Maintain specialized equipment or machinery located in kitchens, dining areas, and laundry.
- Order parts, supplies, or equipment.
- Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, manuals, or schematic diagrams.
- Test and treat water supply.
- Align and balance new equipment after installation.
- Inputs, tracks, and monitors work orders regularly.
- Works with staff to submit work orders and resolve issues
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 1 years of maintenance experience is preferred
- Apprenticeship training in trades is preferred
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Good mechanical, analytical, research and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with practical judgment and a decisive manner
- Desire to work as part of a collaborative, high-performing and cross-functional team
- Valid driver’s license
- Legally able to work in the United States
- Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as required

Physical Requirements
- Bending, carrying, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds (23 kg), pulling, pushing, running, sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, twisting and walking (up to 6 hours a day) to perform job tasks
- Seeing and touching, hearing and smelling required to determine problems with and repair equipment
Working Conditions
- Work within the environment of the PDC which includes industrial garbage, human bodily waste, cold, grease, isolation, smoke, dirt, oil, noise, dust, heat, odors, fire, electricity, poor lighting, etc.
- Exposure to various weather elements
- Exposure to hazards such as chemicals that can burn, noxious fumes, poor ventilation, things which cause cuts such as filters on fan coil units, checking electrical equipment, inhalation of things which cause breathing difficulties, tripping, etc.
