SAGE is the world’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ+) older adults. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources for LGBTQ+ older adults and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ+ older people, and provides cultural competency training for aging providers and LGBTQ+ organizations, largely through its National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging and its growing social enterprise SAGECare.
Summary: SAGETrans is a New York City-wide program for Transgender, Non-Binary and Non-Conforming older adults age 50 and older, offering outreach and education to providers and individuals throughout New York City and State. The SAGETrans Program Manager assists and provides services to our Participants and Clients. The program provides “Know Your Rights” materials for participants, as well as referrals. This position works with the Director of Special Programs and is responsible for assisting with all activities of the SAGETrans Program, including outreach, presentation, networking, program production, intake, case management and referral. This position requires a self-starter with significant people skills as well as organizational skills, to create and build relationships, create systems and meet the program’s deliverables. Applicants with a knowledge of aging, LGBTQ+ communities and NYC Transgender Older Adults and community at large, strongly desired.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement an outreach strategy to develop relationships with Transgender and Non-Binary (TGNB) LGBTQ older people and the NYC agencies serving TGNB older adults, assess the needs and interests of TGNB elders
- Develop, support, and regulate weekly programming at each SAGE Center (at least 2 – 3 offerings each week for each Center) for Transgender and Non-Binary (TGNB) older people in NYC, ensuring that programming is responsive to their needs and interests, particularly to TGNB BIPOC older adults. These programs can and should be handed off to Center staff and facilitators to not burden the SAGETrans Program Manager
- Provide consultation and support to staff in the development and delivery of TGNB affirming programs and services, for NYC programming
- Identify and facilitate several NYC virtual and in-person outreach activities each month (e.g. tabling, agency presentations, participating in townhalls) that advance SAGE’s mission in building partnerships and in the provision of programs and services to TGNB elders
- Conduct outreach to expand reach to TGNB elders (e.g. tabling at community and neighborhood events, attending local and statewide Forums)
- Foster positive relationships with external providers serving the TGNB community and develop linkages to community resources for the older TGNB population
- Coordinate community and agency-based outreach efforts through the development of a SAGE-wide outreach calendar
- Ensure that the needed and required data collection methods for TGNB outreach and engagement activities are implemented to ensure maximization of agency deliverables,
- Collect all data necessary for reporting deliverables and ensure data is correct for submission to funders
- Document lessons learned and successful strategies that were used to engage TGNB older adults in programming and services and to help inform a potential national replication of TGNB older adult programs and outreach. Perform other duties as needed or assigned

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related in a field of study or a related professional experience working with and engaging TGNB communities, e.g. experience providing outreach and engaging TGNC communities or experience developing and delivering TGNC affirming programming and services
- A deep understanding of the lived experiences of TGNB and BIPOC people
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible and dependable – this position requires some flexibility around scheduling; some evening or occasional weekend hours may be required
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to organize files, schedules, dates and information
- Self-directed and able to work with light supervision
- Computer-literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn other pertinent software systems
- Willingness/ability to travel daily throughout NYC area via public transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with LGBTQ+ aging issues and cultural and linguistic competency regarding age, ability, sexuality, gender identity and expression, race, ethnicity, class and other characteristics that affect the lives of diverse older adults
- Familiarity with social and aging services networks and supports
- Ability to speak and/or write in Spanish and/or Portuguese
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Location: Hybrid, minimum two (2) days required at SAGE Centers in Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem, Midtown, and/or SAGE Administrative Offices located at 305 7th Avenue, 6th Floor, New York, New York 10001, and around New York City ad lib.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 9:30 am EST to 5:30 pm EST
Salary Range: $59 – $65K
