We are hiring Full Time and Per Diem PCAs, CNAs or HHAs in our Assisted Living community at the Briarwood Retirement Community. The Full-Time position is day shift and will be expected to work every other weekend as well.
The Personal Care Attendant’s role is to assist residents with those Activities of Daily Living that they are unable to perform without help while helping the Resident to live engaging and meaningful lives. Essential Functions:
- Provide considerate respectful care focused upon the Residents' individual needs
- Assist Residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and toileting
- Provide medication reminders and/or assistance according to state regulations and document on residents’ medication forms.
- Laundry for resident's personal clothing, sheets and towels
- Light housekeeping duties which will include keeping the common areas and resident's apartments' clean and clutter free.
- Set tables in preparation for all meals
- Help prepare, serve and join Residents for the dining service
- Assist with clean-up following all meals
- Assists/conducts planned activities programs for the day.
- Accurately reports any changes in resident condition (physical, cognitive, emotional, and social) to the RN/LPN.
- Participates as a team player and assists other staff.
- Ensures clear communication to oncoming shift of any issues/problems through the report process and communication log.
- Assists families and visitors when needed in a warm and helpful manner.
- Works toward maintaining each resident's independence, self respect, personal dignity and safety.
- Completes accurate documentation in each Resident's chart at the end of shift of care received.
- Checks residents throughout the day for cleanliness, appropriate clothing and any continence issues. Assist the resident with any issues while protecting the resident's dignity and privacy.
- Knows and complies with all resident rights.
- Assist in maintaining inventory
- Recognizes and assists in the prevention of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation (financial and other). Report any abuse to the Director or Wellness Nurse.
- Accurately completes incident reports prior to the end of shift and reports all incidents to the Director or Wellness Nurse.
- Reacts calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the cognitive, physical, behavioral and psychosocial approach to all aspects of dementia by using a sensitive approach to all aspects of resident care.
- Responds to emergencies and personal emergency response system and knows when to call for backup and seek medical attention.
- Must complete annual in-services (14hours/6 Memory Care/SO% Live)
- Attends all mandatory staff meetings.
- All PCAs/CNAs/HHAs are expected to wait for oncoming shift replacement.
- All PCAs/CNAs/HHAs may be asked to work on the traditional Assisted Living floor in the Elms.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director/Wellness Nurse.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma
- CNA or HHA certification required
- 2 years’ experience in a senior living community preferred
- Strong sense of responsibility and moral integrity; compassion and patience essential
