West Loop Veterinary Care is looking for a full-time, certified technician to join our team. We are looking for an individual who will exhibit passion for our mission of providing exceptional medical care to our patients and excellent service to our clients. Your daily responsibilities will include patient handling and care, client communication and service, surgery monitoring and procedures, laboratory procedures, and hospital cleanliness. Requirements:
· Experience working as a technician in a fast-paced veterinary setting.
· Proficient in surgical preparation and monitoring utilizing SurgiVet monitors, IV catheter placement, blood draws, digital radiology and emergency procedures
· Cares for and monitors the condition of animals recovering from surgery. Administers emergency first aid such as performing emergency resuscitation or other life-saving procedures.
· Maintains controlled drug inventory and related logbooks. Administers anesthesia to animals under the direction of a veterinarian and monitor animals’ responses to anesthetics so dosages can be adjusted.
· Dresses and sutures wounds and applies splints and other protective devices.
· Takes and develops diagnostic radiographs using x-ray equipment. Performs dental work such as cleaning, polishing, and extracting teeth.
· Interest in dental and oral healthcare
· Able to prepare, read, and interpret laboratory results including urinalysis, blood smears, intestinal parasite screenings, and cytologies
· Accomplished communicator with interpersonal and client-service skills
· Flexibility to work evenings and weekends based upon the needs of our clients.
· Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fluctuating environment
· Competent computer skills
· Compassion and positive can-do attitude.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· General understanding of animal physiology and veterinary terminology.
· Strong customer service skills.
· Surgical Monitoring Skills
Education and Experience:
· Appropriate state certification and licensing (Required)
· At least two years of relevant experience working as a technician in a small-animal veterinary hospital or clinic
· B.S in Veterinary Technology
· Experience in dental and oral healthcare (preferred)
