Pre-Surgical Admission Testing Nurse PART-TIME
Mann Eye is currently hiring for the position of Pre-surgical Admission Testing Nurse to join our Humble ASC team. As a Pre-surgical Admission Testing Nurse, your primary responsibility will be to act as a patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with other members of the healthcare team and supporting the mission, philosophy, objectives, and goals of the facility. The Pre-surgical Admission Testing Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing the needs of individual patients including but not limited to adult, geriatric patients. This nurse will be responsible for managing the patient’s surgical admission process, such as: Ensuring completion of Simple Admit (Preadmission form), reviewing H&P's for all permanent information, checking for Cardiac clearance if needed, and communicating pertinent patient information to the ASC team and surgeons, if needed, regarding i.e., surgical clearance, etc. You will also collaborate with the surgical coordinator for each facility to ensure patients can proceed with surgery as scheduled.
This position will be split between two locations: Houston Location (5115 Fannin St) and Humble Location (18850 S. Memorial Dr.). The working hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited nursing program
- Current Texas RN License
- Current BLS
- 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse in a PAT or in a Pre-Op setting preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively, conscientiously, and frequently with all team members to share information in a result-oriented manner.
- Ensure pre-operative care requirements of patients are accomplished through use of the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Obtain medical health history of the pre-operative patient. Complete all required documentation, fax documentation to physicians, provide pre- and post-operative instructions. Assesses the need for additional surgical clearance (i.e., cardiac, urology)
- Ability to multi-task with telephone communication and computer charting
- Strong empathy when dealing with patients and family undergoing surgical interventions.
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Perform outbound calls. Respond to telephone inquiries regarding expressed needs of the patient. Thoroughly document calls and encounters utilizing manual and/or on-line information systems.
- Maintains BLS certification.
- Attends all mandatory in services and participates in staff meetings.
- Demonstrate flexibility in performance of patient care tasks to achieve timely response.
- Demonstrate high quality customer service to our patients, their families, physicians, and each other. Treats all patients equally adopting the centers Patient Rights policy.
- Reviews and carries out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner.
- Willingness to assist with other duties when asked.
