Regional Resource Manager - West
Come join the National Grazing Lands Team! The West Region Resource Manager will work collaboratively with the NatGLC team and grazing lands partners to support technical transfer, knowledge sharing, and partnership building in the West region. This position will cover primarily the following states: Alaska, Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico
The West Region Resource Manager works closely with the NatGLC Executive Director, Director of Education & Planning, Director of Western Programs, and Director of Finance & Accounting, to fulfill the mission of the organization. The West Region Resource Manager will work with producers and other partners to identify regional needs and strategies to benefit grazing lands producers. This is a full time position.
Essential Requirements & Responsibilities:
Develop state-level and community relationships, gain a deep understanding of the regional landscape, and facilitate conversations across stakeholders to support grazing lands stewardship.
Develop and manage relationships with state grazing coalitions, in partnership with the state coalitions national lead and regionally-based Directors.
Support state coalitions in building shared understanding of grazing land technical assistance needs and developing proposals to address those needs.
Work closely with the Director of Finance and Accounting to develop agreement budgets and provide mandatory reports.
Coordinate work streams for regional projects (supply chain, NGOs, NRCS, etc.) with other West Region team members.
Provide knowledge and experience in soil and rangeland health, forages, grazing, and livestock management within the context of western U.S. production systems.
Coordinate with local resource and land management agency staff to support producer implementation of practices.
Facilitate community knowledge exchange through field days, workshops, or other relevant events.
Participate in Network learning opportunities designed to support work at the community-level.
Work closely with NatGLC’s Executive Director and Director of Western Programs for all communications with NatGLC’s partners.

Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with diverse partners
Rangeland Science or similar degree, or equivalent experience, required. Experience working with livestock producers, preferred
Familiarity with sustainable livestock and grazing management systems
Collaboration and/or partnership development experience and skill highly preferred
Strong understanding of federal and state programs that promote conservation on private lands (including Farm Bill programs)
Working knowledge of federal land management regulations, including NEPA and FLPMA
Adaptable and able to move work forward within complex and multi-jurisdictional landscapes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail oriented, strong independent work ethic; and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
Ability to distill complex subject matter to any audience for comprehension
Creative and positive approach to communication and problem solving
Experience in production agriculture, working for a government entity, or nonprofit specializing in natural resource management and/or agriculture, is preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and virtual meeting platforms
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Willingness and ability to maintain confidential information and work with diverse populations
Working Environment/Physical Activities: Work environment is an office setting and outdoors. Physical activities include sitting at a desk and working on a keyboard and computer several hours a day; conducting business over the computer and telephone; walking and standing for long periods of time in a ranch setting; traveling long distances by vehicle (including traveling on unpaved roads). This position may also require moving materials up to 25 pounds. This position requires the ability to enunciate clearly, facilitate meetings, and interface professionally with the public.
While we offer a remote and flexible work environment this position is a full-time, salaried position keeping typical business hours when not traveling.
Travel may be up to 40%, with most of the travel being regional ranch visits and partner meetings within the western United States.
This position is subject to the travel, procurement, conflict of interest, code of ethics and other policies of the organization.
This position reports to NatGLC’s Director of Western Programs
Salary & Benefits:
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
