The primary purpose of this position is to conduct initial screenings for individuals inquiring about services with Monroe Community Mental Health Authority (MCMHA). The secondary responsibility of this position will be to aid the Access Team with phone calls and helping with crisis calls and walk-ins. Initial screenings can be conducted over the phone, virtually, or in person according to the person’s preference. These screenings generally will take anywhere from 15-30 minutes to gather basic information and symptom presentation. Upon completion of the screening, an appointment will be scheduled with an Access Evaluation and Admission Specialist for a Bio-psychosocial Assessment should the person choose to continue. When not involved in screenings, this position will assist with answering phones which can range from individuals asking basic questions, to individuals in a mental health crisis. Job duties will also include pre-screen assessments which consist of assessing the necessity of inpatient psychiatric level of care.
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with State of Michigan Licensure (LLBSW, LBSW).
Experience:
One (1+) or more years’ experience within the specific consumer population in which the position holds responsibility.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide the appropriate care for the specific clinical needs and ages of the individuals served. Demonstrated knowledge of the clinical needs, symptoms, and behaviors of individuals served, as well as understand the principles of growth and development over the life span; have the ability to assess data reflecting each individual’s status (adolescent, adult and geriatric).
