The Weight Loss Specialist is responsible for meeting the needs of our existing and potential patients by delivering all of the Medical Weight Loss program services and tools to them via weekly consultations that are designed to be supportive, motivational, and educational. The specialist is the main resource for teaching our patients how to face the challenges of weight loss and for educating them about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The specialist will accomplish this through the effective delivery of motivational consultations, outstanding patient service, and an assortment of our products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Specific duties include, but may not be limited to:
- Promoting self-management, nutrition, and education activities;
- Assisting in the recruitment, enrollment, training, and motivation of program participants, while fostering relationships with them;
- Supporting participants both before and after sessions to complete pertinent forms for data collection and to follow up on any questions not addressed during visit time;
- Preparing before each office visit
- Maintaining, procuring, and organizing supplies and approved educational materials for visits and events.
- Assist in conducting the program in an effective and meaningful manner with adherence to evidence-based practices and institutional requirements;
- Recording session data for each participant (attendance, body weight, total weekly minutes of physical activity, etc.) and reporting patient responses to the Medical Director.
- Follow up with participants who miss visits
- Reinforces to participants the importance of keeping appointments or communicating changes in their appointments;
- Encourages and promotes attendance of office visits
Qualifications
- Previous experience in community health outreach or group education
- Will consider: Medical Assistant, or experience in health promotion
- Must practice a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)—Both verbally and reading required;
- Ability to communicate empathy to/for patients;
- Ability to build strong relationships with individuals;
- Ability to energize and motivate participants to achieve their goals;
- Knowledge of basic health, nutrition, and fitness principles as pertains to the Mt. West Weight Loss Program
- Experience using Microsoft Office
- Commitment to the mission of Mt. West Medical Weight Loss Program
- Flexibility to work with people from all walks of life;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing;
Requirements
Required to sit, stand, walk and move about throughout the day; manual dexterity to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with arms and hands; occasionally climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel or crouch occasionally; talk and hear; vision abilities required include close vision, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour
