The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) is a national non-profit organization, representing over 17,000 hospitalists and the patients they serve. JOB SUMMARY
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining business partnerships and relationships, enhancing SHM’s sales strategy and navigating business opportunities presented throughout the year. They evaluate current programs, including sponsorship partnership opportunities, to identify strategies for improvement and growth. Additionally, they access new and innovative ways to grow and enhance partnerships to maximize revenue potential.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Uses strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with organizational stakeholders and external partners
- Multi-task and manage multiple competing priorities
- Develop and implement growth strategies and plans
- Manage and retain relationships with new and existing clients
- Customer service management
- Learn about the hospital medicine specialty and apply that knowledge to identify relevant partnership opportunities
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of business products and value propositions
- Create copy for microsites, catalogs, and letters of agreement, as well as develop contracts and proposals for potential partnerships (new and pre-existing)
- Research prospective client leads and premier sponsorship initiatives that may result in growth of sales
- Plan and create new marketing communication initiatives that may increase revenue
- Develop ways to improve the customer experience and build brand loyalty
- Identify and map business strengths and customer needs
- Research business opportunities and new viable income streams/partnerships
- Pre and Post Sale Fulfillment
- Serve as on-site show management including partner registration, exhibit sales, check-in, and customer support
- Map Your Show and CVENT management
- Track, report, and analyze annual revenue generated across meetings
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Serving in the role of Personify 360, Map Your Show, and CVENT Superuser
- Management of Partner (Sponsor and Exhibitor) registration across programs
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
We prefer candidates who have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 5-7 years of experience - 2-4 years in exhibit/tradeshow/conference experience
- Established sales experience with a track record of success
- Experience with on-site exhibit management required
- Conflict management, mediation, and resolution experience
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to identify, establish, and maintain CRM software such as Salesforce, including database management, lead tracking, and automations

Pay: $75,000.00 - $97,000.00 per year
