The owner of this small, flexible CPA firm on the south shore is looking for his second in command.
There is next to no turnover here, the average tenure of people at the firm is 10 years, so they clearly know how to keep their staff happy. At this firm, family comes first. You won’t be expected to miss out on your kid’s soccer game. You will be treated like an adult and trusted to get your work done when works for you.
Your opinion will be heard and valued by the owner, who does not hesitate to let go of clients who treat his staff disrespectfully. He is a genuinely down to earth guy who cares about helping people, providing a high-quality service and a good quality work environment.
If firm ownership interests you, then you’ll have that opportunity here in the future. However, if that’s not your thing, there’s no pressure to go in that direction.
You will be working on a variety of mid sized clients doing predominantly corporate tax work, with some individual returns. You’ll be expected to produce and review tax work.
You’ll be working on a hybrid basis at their Canton, MA office. During tax season you’ll work max 60 hours. You’ll get health and a simple IRA, 3 weeks vacation plus a firm wide closure after tax season and the extension deadline. The owner is a family man and left the Big 4 himself so he could spend more time with his young family, so you won’t be asked to miss out on your personal life here.
This job would suit someone perhaps coming from a large firm that doesn’t want to be in a high pressure environment but wants to become an owner in the future, or perhaps someone from a small-medium firm where you can see no upward trajectory… this could be the role for you.
Ideally you’ll have your CPA but this isn’t a deal breaker if not and you’ll need to be experienced doing S corps, C corps and partnerships.
