Job Summary
The Chemical Operator needs knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality measures, and other techniques for maximizing the safe and effective manufacture and packaging of finished goods.
Current openings are for 3rd shift (11:00PM - 7:00AM Sunday - Thursday)
Essential Responsibilities
- Storing, retrieving, using, and monitoring supplies used in the production process, including chemicals and packaging supplies to meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Recording information, such as ingredients, weights, and temperature on batch sheets or log sheets.
- Safely operate equipment through all phases of production including startup, shut down, and change-over of products. Equipment includes blenders, bag filling stations, conveyors, jet dryers and forklifts
- Troubleshooting issues with production equipment and processes to maintain optimal run rates while maintaining safe operation
- Observing all company, local, state, and federal safety and quality regulations.
- Reporting accidents, safety violations, or other concerns.
- Assisting in planning and improving processes and product quality.
- Working with other team members to complete the production process.
- Perform routine housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work station.
- Meeting physical requirements of the position, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods, lifting 50 lbs., climbing, crouching, operating tools, and wearing safety gear.
Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Chemical and/or Powder Machine Operator experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Basic mathematical calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Ability to manually lift, push and move up to 50 lbs. throughout shift.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A desire to work with team members to improve processes and product quality in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary
- Ability to work within an environment that requires bending, stooping, climbing, pushing/pulling, reaching (at or above shoulder height), twisting at the waist.
- Ability to work in an environment with the following conditions; chemical and mechanical operations, confined spaces, dust and fumes, working within safe proximity to forklift and machine operations, exposure to heat and humidity, hearing or talking around loud machinery, and wearing personal protective equipment.
