Job Summary
The Vice President/CFO position is responsible for all aspects of the accounting operations and administration of financial activities. The position is accountable for overall financial oversight of the organization, including ensuring that the books and records of the organization are timely and accurate.
Essential Functions
1. Prepare monthly and annual internal financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
2. Lead and manage the monthly closing process so that reports are accurate, complete and distributed in a timely manner to internal and external users.
- Present financial information and provide guidance to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
- Oversee all payroll related functions including all federal and state filing requirements.
- Responsible for cash management and bank reconciliations.
- Oversee functions performed by staff including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash receipts and disbursements.
- Oversee the vendor management process and issuance of 1099s.
- Maintain the fixed asset software module and account for capital expenditures.
- Maintain the lease accounting software and account for lease additions and modifications according to ASC 842.
- Perform periodic review, revision and implementation of policies and procedures related to finance, accounting, investments and internal controls.
- Responsible for the administration of the accounting software package and works closely with the consultant to evaluate, recommend and implement additional features and modules to improve efficiencies.
- Coordinate all audit activity and act as primary contact to the external auditors. Assist the audit firm with preparation of Form 990 tax return and Michigan Renewal Solicitation Form.
- Serve as main contact with outside parties for all banking relations and renewals of insurance policies
- Ensure documentation and compliance with CARF Standards as related to the area of Financial Planning and Management.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the President.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Must keep abreast of all new developments and changes in order to comply with all government regulations and US GAAP accounting standards as applicable to the organization.
2. A commitment to continuous learning by way of continuing professional education, seminars, research and other means in order to apply new developments, best practices and new standards that apply to the organization.
3. Recommends implementation of accounting software modules to gain efficiencies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and audit experience preferred.
- Minimum five years of progressive and diversified experience in accounting management.
- Non-profit accounting experience is a plus.
- Experience with ASC 842 Lease Accounting is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel. Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar) a plus.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
