Position Summary:
The Associate Merchandise Planner supports G-Star in creating and executing business strategies to achieve financial plans. “Right product in the right place at the right time.”
Reporting to the Directory of Inventory Planning, this individual is responsible for effectively pushing products to full-price and outlet stores utilizing best-practice inventory management processes. Through proactively analyzing store-specific trends and needs; making recommendations and adjustments to allocation software parameters in order to drive sales goals and increase profitability. This individual performs various selling analysis on a constant basis - always searching for optimizations hiding in the details. Also assists in other miscellaneous ad-hoc reporting pertaining to warehouse inventory, in-transit stock, along with other stores-based analysis requests as needed. The ideal candidate can keep the ‘big picture’ strategy in mind while simultaneously actioning at a very detail-oriented size and store level.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for effectively allocating product from warehouse to store location through regular analysis & parameter tweaks within allocation software tool
- Prepare & analyze various weekly selling reports in support of continuous growth of our retail store locations in-line with total company goals
- Create new reports & processes as needed in attempt to evolve process & business
- Weekly analysis and adjustment to allocation parameters (minimums by store, allocation aggressiveness (or lack thereof), returns to warehouse, etc.
- Assist in monitoring lifecycle of product (from vendor to warehouse to store)
- Influence category assortments by store through analyzing product performance, customer feedback, consumer trend/data, competitive landscape, and local market knowledge
- Participate in (and eventually lead) weekly retail selling & allocation recap meetings to senior leadership
- Propose clear and actionable follow-ups from selling analysis such as markdowns, re-orders, store transfers, etc. Handle special and ad-hoc projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Fashion Merchandising or other related field and/or 1-3 years of applicable retail work experience (ideally in a planning, buying, or allocation-based role)
- Strong Retail Math skills and Analytical skills. Ability to understand the big picture while working at granular level
- Ability to research and analyze large amounts of data, pulling & scrutinizing large data sets in excel does not intimidate you
- Well-organized and detail-oriented, able to prioritize & communicate when assistance is required
- Able to make timely decisions, anticipate problems and provide creative solutions.
- Results-oriented, data-driven, willingness to follow-through, complete tasks and problem-solve.
- Full of energy for challenges and eager to drive results
- Able to deal with ambiguity and a changing environment, team effort to lean in and drive business forward
- Prior experience with allocation software (Nextail or JDA) preferred
