Description:
We are seeking a Scribe & Medical Assistant with a strong interest in behavioral health/psychiatry to work 1:1 with psychiatric providers in the field of community mental health. This is an in-person position in one of our clinics (Safford, Sierra Vista, Tucson, Casa Grande, Yuma).
The Scribe & Medical Assistant will create medical notes for providers into the electronic health record. This includes the history of present illness, past medical and family history, review of systems, physical exam, diagnostic studies, and plan as determined by the providers. Other responsibilities include for preparing charts, coordinating labs, insuring information from hospital discharges are available at the appointment time. Completing prior authorizations and interfacing with patients/members to communicate and coordinate care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (with or without accommodation):

Create medical notes for providers into the electronic health record. This includes the history of present illness, past medical and family history, review of systems, physical exam, diagnostic studies, and plan as determined by the providers.

Document and coordinate care among multidisciplinary team members and with community partners.

Facilitate patient flow and ensure an accurate and complete medical record for each patient efficiently and cost effectively.

Assist organization in meeting quality metrics, insuring that standard clinical practices are completed and documenting for reporting (e.g. PHQ9 scores, laboratory evaluations).

Preparing charts, coordinating labs, insuring information from hospital discharges are available at the appointment time.

Complete prior authorizations and interfacing with patients/members to communicate and coordinate care.

Obtains and records vital signs in members’ charts prior to appointments, psych evaluations, when a patient begins a new medication or is scheduled for follow-up care, or upon request of a physician or nurse.

Aids with certified mail, copying, faxes, chart retrieval, etc.

Answers phone requests from reception for prescription pickup, delivers prescriptions to members, reports member/family questions or issues to nursing.

Serves as a liaison between physician and other agencies.

Adheres to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.

Performs other duties as assigned or necessary as they relate to the general nature of the position.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
-
Medical Assistant Certificate
-
Prior clinical experience required such as medical training, volunteering, shadowing, clinical research, scribing, paramedic training, or being a medical assistant

Excellent spelling and typing skills
-
Knowledge of medical terminology highly preferred
-
Knowledge of behavioral health practices, especially in the state of Arizona, highly preferred

Self-sufficient and quick to learn
-
Professional and reliable work ethic

Must have consistent availability and ability to work shifts between 8am to 5pm Arizona Time

Familiarity with navigating electronic medical records (EMRs) highly preferred
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements: Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Education –
-
Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent (Medical Degree, Nursing Degree) preferred, not required.
Experience –
-
One year of experience providing medical and psychiatric services preferred, not required.
Regulatory –
-
Clean criminal background check and the ability to obtain and maintain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.

Current valid, unrestricted driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that meets the standards of the agency.
